Location: Baltimore, Maryland (USCG YARD, Curtis Bay)

Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: Variable Shift

Compensation: $19.00-$19.00/hour

Tessera is seeking a responsible and organized Grounds Maintenance Worker with a positive attitude.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:
  • Operate and maintain mowers, pressure washers, trimmers, snow plows/blower, etc.

  • Assists in repair of roads walks, buildings and mechanical equipment.

  • Removal and maintenance of snow and ice to keep clear safe sidewalks, two-way roads, parking areas, emergency exits and fire hydrants.

  • Trims and prunes shrubs, ground covers, native plants, and trees planted in improved grounds according to their natural growth habit for proper health and attractive appearance in the appropriate season.

  • Ensure that all ruts are repaired upon lawn mowing completion, weather permitting.

  • Prior to mowing, the Contractor shall pick up and remove all rubbish, debris, and trash (which includes, but is not limited to; rocks, paper, pine cones, limbs, and other portable objects) within the maintenance area and all trash, papers and limbs lodged in shrubs, hedges, fences, and along foundation walls.

  • Mowing debris and clippings shall be removed from surfaced areas immediately after completion of mowing operations. Water shall not be used to remove clippings from roadways or other paved areas.

  • The fence line located along unimproved grounds shall be kept free and clear of shrubbery and vegetation. Fencing material must be kept clean of any vegetation that might entwine itself into the fence.

  • Shall seed designated areas to ensure a full, even lawn growth throughout seeded areas with no bare or uneven spots after six weeks of growth from the time of seeding.

  • Shall trim and prune shrubs, ground covers, native plants, and trees planted in improved grounds according to their natural growth habit for proper health, attractive appearance in the appropriate season.

  • Shall remove all fallen trees, limbs, and debris deposited by water runoff on improved grounds after periods of heavy wind or rainfall.

  • Operate weed eater, blower, and/or mower on a regular basis.

Qualifications:
  • Up to three (3) years of experience in Facilities and Grounds Maintenance.

  • Working knowledge of common hand and power tools.

Physical Demands:
  • Position may require working in high places such as scaffolding, ladders, man-lifts, and/or cherry pickers.

  • Position duties require working outside in the weather. Conditions may include rain, cold and/or heat.

Requirements:
  • A valid State Driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance company.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances as background checks will be conducted for this position.
