Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 15 years relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 13 years relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.


Responsibilities for this Position

Our Autonomous Maritime Platforms business area has an immediate opening for an experienced Program Director as we advance the state-of-the-art in autonomous technologies. Our team is performing on projects to design and deliver critical new systems for the US warfighter, and we need experienced leaders with the engineering and business savvy to execute these challenging programs. Executed at multiple sites near Boston, Massachusetts, these programs are on the cutting edge of design and integration of advanced maritime systems, embedded electronics, and autonomy.


We need a seasoned technical and business leader with experience delivering products in the field of marine and or autonomous platforms. As the Program Director you'll lead the team in defining an execution strategy, developing a cohesive cost and schedule baseline for execution, and organizing to make it so. We'll rely on you to balance program risks and opportunities with executable strategies to meet technical requirements and budgets. You will interface with our customers in the U.S. Department of Defense, including the U.S. Navy, to ensure alignment and transparency at all phases, from development through delivery.

  • Resource for Success: Identify and allocate essential resources, define major program roles, and set integrated WBS-based budgets and schedules.
  • Drive Performance: Monitor project progress, implement corrective actions swiftly, and communicate effectively to ensure all targets are met.
  • Bring Risk & Opportunity Expertise: Navigate program risks and opportunities with precision, crafting strategies that meet technical requirements and stay within budget.
  • Act as Customer Champion: Build strong relationships with key customers, becoming their go-to expert on technical matters and driving new business opportunities.
  • Be a Proposal Powerhouse: Develop and execute compelling proposal plans and strategies that win new business and expand our market presence.
  • Demonstrate Sound Financial Management: Maximize profit and cash flow, ensuring all projects adhere to budgets, schedules, and performance standards.

What you bring to the table:

  • A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent plus a minimum of 15 years relevant experience; or Master's degree in an engineering discipline or MBA, plus a minimum of 13 years relevant experience to meet managerial expectations
  • Engineering Foundation: A solid engineering background is a must, with deep knowledge of undersea technologies and complex systems.
  • Navy Know-How: Expertise in Navy customer markets, especially PEO Unmanned and Small Surface Combatants.
  • Financial Savvy: Very strong ability to analyze financial data and develop cohesive program plans.
  • Leadership Acumen: Proven experience leading teams in a matrix organization, with advanced negotiation skills and a knack for building relationships.
  • Tech Proficiency: Mastery of MS Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders within company and customer communities
  • Proven Success: Experience managing large-scale projects over $50M in annual recurring revenue, with extensive familiarity working with US Navy acquisition, technical, and resource sponsor personnel.
  • Exceptional communication skills: Relay issues, impacts, and corrective actions on programs to internal and external representatives

  • Significant experience successfully leading major U.S. Navy or other complex DoD acquisition programs from development through production / sustainment
  • Demonstrated ability to think and act independently
  • Demonstrated ability to balance program risks and opportunities with executable strategies to meet technical requirements and budgets
  • Experience in setting standards for metric reviews over a family of programs/product line or within a business area
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong customer relationships that result in successful execution and growth
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) certifications
  • Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is a plus
