Nokia Bell Labs is the world-renowned research arm of Nokia, having invented many of the foundational technologies that underpin information and communications networks and all digital devices and systems. This research has produced ten Nobel Prizes, five Turing Awards and numerous other awards. The ideal candidate is an expert in clean room fabrication process development. You are excited to build a strong research program to create foundational photonic integrated technologies for communication and computing systems. You are passionate to see your research work become a part of the future communications and computing/AI infrastructure of the world. You are highly motivated and able to carry out creative research programs both individually and in collaboration with other researchers across the global Nokia Bell Labs team. You will work with and learn from world experts in advanced photonic device and integration technologies located at the Murray Hill, NJ campus. Research to enable the fabrication of novel, state-of-the-art devices for coherent communications, quantum networking, and photonic computing, Present research findings through papers and oral presentations both within the organization and to the external research community, Share responsibility for overseeing the maintenance and operation of nano-fabrication equipment and facilities. Your skills and experience: A PhD in Engineering, Physics, or related field Nano-fabrication expertise, including process development Strong record of disruptive research in academia and/or industry including scientific/technical publications and/or patents Ability to define and pursue a research program in synergy with larger team Excellent communication, interpersonal skills It would be nice if you also have experience with: Design of manufacturable photonic devices Fabrication processes for advanced 2.5D semiconductor integration technologies including chip stacking, flip-chip bonding, etc. Experience in transferring processes from research to foundry production Come create the technology that helps the world act together Nokia is committed to innovation and technology leadership across mobile, fixed and cloud networks.
