We are currently seeking an innovative recovery professional to serve as an Assistant Director of Grants Program for the LA Wildfires Long-Term Recovery Operation in California. This is a term-limited, benefits eligible position expected to last 24 months from the date of the disaster with the opportunity to extend based on business need. This is a hybrid position based in California, frequent travel to impacted communities will be required. Preference will be given to residents of CA.

On January 7, 2025, the Los Angeles Wildfires, stoked by the Santa Ana winds, eventually burned large swaths of highly urbanized sections of Los Angeles County. As January draws to a close, the two massive fires that destroyed more than 16,000 structures in California are nearly extinguished, but for those impacted, recovery is just beginning. The American Red Cross is working around the clock to support impacted households, and alongside our partners, we'll continue to be there for months and years to come.

The American Red Cross is standing up a long-term recovery program to support impacted communities, providing recovery programming and services to individuals, households, and communities affected by these wildfires.

The LA Wildfires Long-Term Recovery Assistant Director of Grants Program reports to the Director, Long-Term Recovery and is responsible for establishing and administering a grants program to support individual and community recovery and resiliency in alignment with local expectations and requirements and the community needs assessment. This role requires an experienced grants manager comfortable with program development and evaluation, grant proposal evaluation, program health monitoring, data management and reporting. A successful candidate will have a proven track record of thoughtful collaboration, strategic thinking, problem solving and relationship building with various stakeholders (both internal and external). This position will work with a team of local and National Headquarters volunteers and paid staff.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

* Lead the grants program through the complete grant cycle, from launch to closing, in coordination with the Director, National Long-Term Recovery team, Disaster Finance, and other internal stakeholders
* Work with LA Wildfires LTRO leadership team and stakeholders to integrate ongoing needs assessment feedback into the recovery grants program in alignment with the identified community needs and established American Red Cross funding priorities
* Provide supervision and leadership to the grants team, comprised of volunteers and employees, including performance evaluation, coaching, and professional development
* Develop and prepare program evaluations, grant impact assessments, and stewardship reports for internal and external stakeholders
* Support the grants management team in developing data models to assess and support monitoring and evaluation, including metrics and deliverables
* Ensure regular oversight of all grants within the program and provide timely notification of any challenges or opportunities
* Directly manage portfolio comprising of strategic grants, focusing on high-visibility partnerships and complex grant agreements
* Support Red Cross's participation in funder collaborative meetings
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders in support of grant processing and disbursements, and monitor allocations as required.
* Ensure all duties and responsibilities are performed in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State, and local regulations
* Other duties as assigned

The salary range for this position is $97,120-$105,984. Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):
Education:Bachelor's degree required.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Strong skills in grants management, including online grant management systems, partnership relations, and disaster response/recovery preferable. Experience in using systems to track and measure outcomes-based social-services programs.Participation in/supporting community assessments is strongly desired.
Management Experience: At least3 years of experience as supervisor or manager ofworkforceengaged in direct client contact in an outcome-based social-services environment.Experience building and supporting a volunteer workforce preferably.
Skills and Abilities: Flexibility, adaptability and a positive attitude. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work independently, handle and prioritize multiple tasks.Ability to manage programs.Ability to assesscommunity andclient needsand provide services equitably and consistently.Identifies and resolves problems and/or develops alternative solutions.Exhibits sound and accurate judgment.
Other: Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.Ability to utilize a variety of technical systems with ease, including online project management tools.
Travel: May travel to impacted areas Must have a Valid Driver's License.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business offices with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
