JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Job Summary:
Penn State University is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Career Services Workshop Intern to deliver engaging presentations on career-related topics to student organizations, academic classes, and other university groups. This internship provides an exciting opportunity to develop public speaking, career counseling, and presentation skills while contributing to the professional development of students. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping others succeed, possess strong communication skills, and have a keen interest in career services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation, development, and delivery of career-focused workshops and presentations to a variety of student groups, including organizations, classes, and special events.

  • Topics may include resume writing, interview preparation, job search strategies, networking skills, career exploration, professional branding, and other career-related subjects.

  • Collaborate with the Career Services team to plan and promote workshop schedules across campus.

  • Lead interactive, engaging presentations and activities that encourage student participation and enhance learning.

  • Provide individualized advice and feedback to students on career-related topics during workshops and group sessions.

  • Coordinate with student organizations, faculty, and other departments to schedule and promote workshops.

  • Assist in gathering feedback from workshop participants to continuously improve the quality and impact of sessions.

  • Stay up to date with trends in career services, employment practices, and professional development.

  • Assist with the development and distribution of career resources and materials for students.

  • Provide general support to the Career Services team on other events or initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at Penn State University (preferably in a field related to Communications, Human Resources, Psychology, Business, or Education).

  • Strong interest in career services, student development, and professional growth.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to diverse student groups.

  • Comfortable speaking in front of groups and engaging participants in meaningful discussions.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Creative and resourceful with the ability to adapt presentations to different audiences.

  • Experience in public speaking, teaching, or facilitating workshops is a plus.

  • Enthusiasm for helping others succeed in their careers and professional development.

  • Gain hands-on experience in career counseling and professional development for university students.

  • Build a deeper understanding of student needs related to career preparation and job search.
