This position reports to
R&D Manager, Instrumentation Products
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will contribute significantly to technology and product development projects by identifying and implementing innovative solutions. You will, under limited direction, per-form a variety of complex engineering assignments requiring in-depth knowledge of a specific engineering discipline plus an understanding of related disciplines to cost effectively achieve objectives. Assignments typically require the use of advanced and innovative techniques. Proactively seek and implement initiatives to improve operations and increase customer satisfaction. The work model for the role is: Hybrid This role is contributing to the Process Automation Measurement & Analytics division. You will be mainly accountable for: *Design, analyze and evaluate systems, products or components, re-quiring a high degree of technical expertise *Design and develop complex models or simulations and apply ad-vanced computer programs, analytical techniques or control strategies to effectively meet requirements and resolve problems *Act as principal investigator or lead a group of engineers investigating problems, developing solutions and preparing related recommendations and reports *Conduct economic studies and prepare or lead the preparation of specifications, proposals for contracts licensing and safety documents and obtain required approvals Our team dynamics You will join a dynamic and high performing team, where you will be able to thrive.
Qualifications for the role
- Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree preferred in an electrical engineering or related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience; alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, Critical Thinking and Time Management
- Analog and Logic Circuit Design/Simulation
- ADC & DAC experience
- Experience in creating output job files and fully documented PCBA re-lease package including, schematics, PCB Gerber, BOMs, test procedures, special build instructions.
- Experience in OrCAD schematic capture and Cadence/Allegro PCB lay-out.
- Hardware design from concept through to production including com-ponent selection, test, prototype build and debug, regulatory and certification approvals, production integration and ongoing support
- Preferred Skills
- Embedded hardware development experience with microcontroller design and development
- FPGA or CPLD design
- HDL design experience (Verilog or VHDL)
- Time Domain Reflectometry, Low Power Design Strategy
- Design of Measuring Equipment and Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
- Design and Data Analysis with MATLAB
- Knowledge on EMI/EMC compliance and should be able to perform testing independently.
- Familiar with hazardous area certification
- Familiarity with Guided wave radar and laser level products a plus
- Experience working closely with multi functional team (production, production test, customer support, supply chain)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to pro-duce clear and concise technical documentation
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
