OREGON YOUTH AUTHORITY BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE DEVELOPER (Limited Duration) Salem - CENTRAL OFFICE

Join our diverse and inclusive team at the Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) Information Systems Department as a full-time, Limited Duration Business Intelligence Developer. We are seeking an experienced individual proficient in PowerBI and reporting/analytical tools to contribute to our mission. As a Business Intelligence Developer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining inclusive reporting systems that promote data mining, research, program evaluation, and information dissemination. Collaborating with managers, information systems staff, researchers, and planners from various departments, you will ensure optimal reporting methods for the Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS) Reporting database and OYA's data warehouse. Your responsibilities will encompass analysis, planning and coordination, design, development, and maintenance of the JJIS reporting system and the Department's data warehouse reporting system. Additionally, you will provide valuable technical assistance to Business Intelligence users.   • Limited Duration: This is a 12 month limited duration appointment. Limited duration appointments are benefits eligible and have a designated maximum length of service. This position has the potential to become permanent.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Six (6) years of information systems experience with PowerBI and reporting/analytical tools such as SAP BusinessObjects suite, Cognos, SSRS.

OR

  • An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND
  • four (4) years of information systems experience with PowerBI and reporting/analytical tools such as SAP BusinessObjects suite, Cognos, SSRS.

OR

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND
  • two (2) years of information systems experience with PowerBI and reporting/analytical tools such as SAP BusinessObjects suite, Cognos, SSRS.

OR

  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • This position requires good verbal and written skills, and the ability to effectively communicate difficult technical automation concepts to end-users and managers who may have little or no automation experience.
  • Have knowledge of databases and automated systems, including PC-based and server-based systems and networks.
  • Ability to comprehend complex details of OYA's automated systems, JJIS, and Windows server operations.
  • Experience using SQL, Oracle, SQL Server DBMS, structured programming techniques, SAP business intelligence and analytical tools, data transformation software and techniques, and data warehousing techniques and theories.

Note: You do not need to have all of these qualities to be eligible for this position.

  • Extensive experience developing and maintain complex reports and dashboards (preferably PowerBI, Crystal Reports, Web Intelligence)
  • Demonstrated ability to write complex SQL statements using T-SQL or Oracle SQL
  • Experience using SAP BusinessObjects and Information Design Tool and/or other analytical tools
  • Experience using quality assurance best practices and data analytic techniques to troubleshoot, identify data integrity issues, and analyze data
  • Experience gathering and creating requirements; prioritizing tasks and maintaining technical documentation
