Key Position Details:
- 1.0 FTE (80 hours per 2-week pay period)
- This is a split position with 0.5 FTE at United Hospital Hastings Regina Campus and the other 0.5 FTE at River Falls Area Hospital.
- 8-hour day shifts, no weekends, no major holiday's
Job Description: Accountable to assess the patient, staff, and visitor environment to ensure it is in compliance with all accrediting and regulatory requirements and internal standards to optimally maintain safe and efficient plant operations and staff work areas and to improve patient experience.
Principle Responsibilities
- Manages employees and holds them accountable for role responsibilities, competencies, individual performance and goals.
- Supports the recruitment, interviewing, hiring and onboarding process.
- Conducts ongoing coaching, assessment, training and education of staff.
- Completes and conducts employee performance reviews.
- Responsible for engagement of employees and contributing to annual department-wide engagement plan.
- Leads and provides direction for consulting engineers to resolve facility mechanical and electrical problems and modifications.
- Oversees and facilitates the operation of the preventative maintenance system.
- Reduces interruptions of mechanical systems due to breakdowns and extends equipment life expectancy.
- Maintains all preventive maintenance documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Responsible for quality assurance program within boiler, chiller, and electrical area.
- Provides technical support for hospital utility systems and projects as needed.
- Advances customer service and patient experience aspects of hospital or clinic.
- Accountable for setting and meeting budget and productivity targets.
- Approves invoices for payment of material or services.
- Negotiates and implements contracts and specialty service providers.
- Collaborates with contractors and system facility project management team to ensure projects are on time, on budget and meet regulatory requirements.
- May maintain a regulatory steering infrastructure pertaining to the Joint Commission Environment of Care chapter.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation agencies.
- Ensures that regulatory outcomes and updates are communicated to leadership.
- Facilitates applicable corrective action plans created in response to noted deficiencies.
- Develops and maintains appropriate policies and procedures to assure regulatory compliance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
- 2 to 5 years of hospital operations experience with emergency generator systems, boiler systems, centrifugal chiller system, well water systems, sewer systems, building structures and required utilities
- 3 to 7 years of supervisory and management experience
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Associate's or Vocational degree
- 5 to 7 years of health care experience
Licenses/Certifications
- State of Minnesota Chief B Engineers License or higher preferred
- Certified Facility Manager (CFM) certification preferred

Pay Range
Pay Range: $45.40 to $62.82 per hour
The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience and education. Additional incentives may be available, including discretionary monetary bonuses, goal-based bonuses, and other financial incentives.
