DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position is designed for trainees who will be tasked with the operation of equipment used in highway construction and maintenance, as well as engaging in various manual labor activities as part of a highway or bridge maintenance team. As part of your training, you will work towards obtaining the necessary licenses and certifications to handle heavy construction machinery, which will include, at a minimum, the Heavy Truck/Tandem Axle (HT/TA) and loader (LD) with a bucket capacity of 4.5 cubic yards or less. You will gain experience in conducting and documenting essential pre- and post-operation inspections, making field adjustments to ensure safe operation while reducing equipment wear. Additionally, you will learn to operate a range of hand and foot controls, utilize safety features such as seat belts, and manage the installation and removal of tire chains on dual wheels.

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirements:
- Must possess a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work.
- Must possess a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of work.
Conditions of Employment:
- Certain positions require operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission.
- This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
