Solid Surface Fabricator

Job Summary

This person will perform a wide variety of tasks in fabricating countertops for custom casework and millwork. They will receive direction from the supervisor and notify the supervisor when more work is needed. They must organize their work area, machinery, and tools in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion. They will assist in other departments as required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Completes work area setup
  • Fits parts together in accordance with the prescribed manner and in accordance with quality standards
  • Operates presses and machinery in addition to hand tools as required to complete the assembly process
  • Stacks completed products in accordance with established procedures, and if required, may cover, label and band components/finished product
  • Ensures work area is safe, clean and organized, and that equipment is safe to operate.
  • Completes pre-shift/startup equipment inspection checklist and reports any problems or concerns
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work environment
  • Provides basic TPM to equipment and completes TPM paperwork when required
  • Maintains production records as required
  • Checks materials and finished products to ensure compliance with standards
  • Performs duties consistent with established safety and quality procedures, rules, and standards
  • Participates in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED preferred but not required
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience assembling components or specialty products is required; 1 year of experience or more is preferred
  • Experience fabricating solid surface and/or plastic laminate countertops.
  • Experience working with woodworking equipment and hand tools.
  • Experience with equipment, and maintenance would be a plus.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to read shop drawings.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills.
  • Ability to take direction and follow instructions given by supervisors.
  • Ability to take personal responsibility and not pass the buck.
  • Ability to work both individually and in team settings.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Working knowledge of basic math preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
