Responsibilities

The Systems Engineer will support the customer with technical expertise supporting collection mission planning and execution. System Engineer roles and responsibilities consist of, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist the Sponsor in reviewing, defining, and clarifying operational requirements from various stakeholders.
  • Analyze end pints and collection requirements to identify appropriate technology solutions, capabilities, systems, and equipment to meet operational requirements.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of concepts of operations.
  • Provide operational input to the development of new systems, capabilities, and equipment.
  • Ensure technical and operational constraints are communicated and addressed as part of operational planning and execution.
  • Perform trade studies from testing and evaluation lessons learned, new intelligence gained, and/or operational feedback and provide recommendations for system modifications and upgrades.
  • Support the development of operational procedures to include identification of contingencies and system troubleshooting.
  • Provide recommendations with respect to the end-to-end system capability gaps affecting usability and operability of systems.
  • Support pre-deployment check-out of systems and equipment.
  • Support the deployment of collection systems and equipment.
  • Perform post-deployment performance monitoring and troubleshooting of deployed systems and equipment and provide recommendations to resolve performance issues.

The SE may be required to travel to other locations within the WMA and OCONUS. The SE will be subject to an additional security review process requirement that can take up to six weeks.


Qualifications

  • Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
  • Bachelor's degree in technology, engineering, or related technical discipline with 8 years of relevant experience and a minimum of 5 years performing tasks or a similar role within the Intelligence Community.
  • Knowledge of and a background in technology-focused discipline with the willingness to maintain current and relevant information on this discipline.
  • The ability to troubleshoot and express (verbal and written) how technology works and associated vulnerabilities of its use; how our adversaries target the technology or the individuals using the technology; and best practices countermeasures.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, briefing and writing skills and the ability to interact effectively with personnel at all levels and from various disciplines.
  • Team player with willingness and ability to collaborate to on operational solutions, and the ability to work multiple, concurrent, high-priority tasks.
  • Experience with public speaking and presenting technical subjects to both non-technical and advanced audiences/classes.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the IC, specific issues, and environments.

Desired:

  • Prior experience supporting the Sponsor's technical operations.
  • Technical master's degree.
  • Preference of language capabilities
  • Expertise and skills to provide technical support in one or more of a wide range of technologies.
