Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Scientist II at UL Research Institutes, based in our Marietta, GA office.

The Research Scientist II will be responsible for conducting experiments, gathering data, developing preliminary findings, and preparing written reports that support the research of the Chemical Insights Research Institute (CIRI). The Research Scientist II works closely with CIRI leaders and researchers to carry out evaluations associated with consumer product safety science, emerging chemicals and technologies to ensure all processes are accurate and technically sound.

What you'll learn and achieve:

As the Research Scientist, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:

  • Plan and conduct experiments related to environmental pollutants, toxicology, and human health science.

  • Stay ahead of changing technologies, in the field by reading journals and scientific publications, and attending academic conferences.

  • Apply intensive and diverse knowledge of scientific principles to specific research tasks.

  • Gather initial data for projects and works with Research Scientists to conduct research.

  • Document laboratory procedures, prepare detailed reports, present findings, and publish results internally and externally.

  • Operate independently in the lab/field.

  • Assist with new research proposals and applications for funding or grants.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

  • Travel is required.

Professional education and experience requirements for the role include:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Toxicology, Computational Biology or related field.

  • Experience working with environmental pollutants or emerging chemicals, and/or consumer products, required.
