Department: MED-Preventive Medicine
Salary/Grade: EXS/6

The target hiring range for this position will be $56,782 - $70,978 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Job Summary:

Utilizes multiple quantitative and qualitative datasets from a variety of sources and interprets and generates results using various techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation to complex data mining. Northwestern University Data Analysis and Coordinating Center (NUDACC) is looking to hire a full-time research data analyst associate that will focus on the Liver Cirrhosis Network (LCN) data pipelines. The position involves assisting in the design, development and implementation of business solutions partnering with clients to identify analytical requirements. Specifically, the individual in this position will work with an interdisciplinary team to compile data quality reports, charts, and tables based on project needs and feedback from the team that stem from established statistical methods. The research data analyst will also work with the team to implement and track database and data pipeline updates as the study needs evolve.

Specific Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning

  • Partners with clients to define requirements based on business objectives.

Administration

  • Develop standardized templates, policies, and procedures for internal and external reporting.
  • Designs and prepares documentation for qualitative and quantitative data analysis.

Development

  • Completes a variety of statistical analyses using appropriate data and software
  • Merges data from multiple sources in preparation for analysis.
  • Interprets results of analyses for use in reports and presentations

Performance

  • Completes data cleaning and organizes data files for analysis.
  • Reviews data and Identifies quality issues

Miscellaneous

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to program in either R, SAS, or similar platform.
  • Familiarity with REDCap or similar platform.
  • Ability to program and/or adapt code to export, restructure, merge data files.

  • Effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (beyond a Bachelor's) in computer science, data science, or similar field.
  • Previous experience in clinical research setting.

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

  • Familiarity with REDCap advanced functionalities, including using the Application Programming Interface.
  • Knowledge in Human Subjects' Research in the clinical research setting.
  • Knowledge in study design types (cohort, case control, randomized trials, etc.).
