Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant within the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
The Research Assistant will contribute to cutting-edge research in targeted cancer therapeutics and gene therapy. The Research Assistant will work under the guidance of the Principal Investigators to explore the development of phage/
AAVP-based therapies, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), and novel molecular targets for cancer treatment.
This position is ideal for candidates with a strong interest and a background in molecular biology, bioinformatics, and translational research. The Research Assistant will be involved in independent and collaborative projects, integrating experimental and computational approaches to advance preclinical research.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
- Conducts molecular and cellular biology experiments, including RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, PCR, and immunoassays.
- Performs protein analysis, such as Western blotting, SDS-PAGE, and ELISA, to assess target expression in tumor models.
- Executes phage display and AAVP selection experiments for targeted gene therapy applications.
- Participates in the design and validation of functional assays for preclinical drug evaluation.
- Maintains and analyzes patient-derived xenografts (PDX) and murine cancer models, including tumor monitoring, and ADC efficacy testing.
- Works with molecular biology techniques, including DNA manipulation, cloning, and transformation.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's Degree in Molecular & Cell Biology or related is required.
- Prior laboratory experience in phage display and tumor modeling is required.
- Successful candidate will have proficiency in data analysis and scientific software (MATLAB, ImageJ, Prism, Excel).

- Exposure to biological specimens (cells, blood, tissues, etc.) with possible exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous chemicals, including therapeutic drugs.
