The Position

The Associate Development Reader is the first in a series of four jobs. We are looking for you, an individual with a scientific background intending to develop capabilities and skills surrounding tissue evaluation.

Our team mission is to provide personalized healthcare assay development with the support and expertise needed to deliver high-quality assays with precision and efficiency. We have multiple support functions that serve all Personalized Healthcare project teams, including physical and digital tissue evaluation for feasibility and Verification and Validation, the curation of test and training sets, and the image selection for image guides and slide deck presentations.

The Opportunity

As Associate Development Reader you interpret staining patterns for various Immunohistochemistry (IHC), in-situ hybridization (ISH), and special stains markers for current and new Ventana and Roche products. You evaluate biomarker-stained tissue cases to support a variety of development activities.

In this role, you are:

  • Performing screening and/or qualification of tissues for use in testing; evaluates biomarker-stained tissue cases (IHC, ISH, and other probes) following various scoring algorithms.

  • Coordinating with pathology departments and development project teams to ensure appropriate scoring algorithms are applied and relevant characteristics, features, and information are captured surrounding case evaluations

  • Assisting in production of digital material (slide scans / images) for a variety of uses.

  • You may participate as slide reader in limited studies for assay development and may evaluate slides during feasibility to guide decisions surrounding assay conditions.

Who You Are
  • You hold a Master's in Science and at least one year of proven slide reading proficiency

  • Or, you have a Bachelor's Degree in Science and six years of relevant experience, at least two years of slide reading

  • Technical proficiency, scientific creativity and searching scientific literature, collaboration with others and independent thought.

  • Knowledge of pathological features / characteristics / phenotypes.

  • Proficient with microscope use and operation.

  • Comfortable with digital slide viewing/evaluation (Whole Slide Image familiarity).

  • Skilled with use of word processing, spreadsheets, graphical and presentation software applications. Ability to apply advanced technical writing skills to produce reports and documents.

  • Able to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

The expected salary range for this position based Tucson is 68,300.00 - 126,800.00 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
