JOB SUMMARY
Supervises the daily facility and warehouse operations within the Animal Resource Center (ARC); management of operations staff within the ARC. Oversees support programs within the ARC. Provides support to the Assistant Director Operations.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required



  • Education


    • High school graduation or equivalent -OR-




  • Experience


    • 4 years experience in an animal care facility/operations to include and
    • 2 years In a supervisory/management role




  • Licenses and Certifications


    • Driver License maintain a valid Texas driver's license and ability to operate state vehicles.

    • Bachelor's Degree In a related field

    LATG Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) Upon Hire -OR-

JOB DUTIES



  • Oversee the Assistant Supervisor Operations and/or Team Lead, ARC Storekeeper, other operations staff members, and various contract staff for the ARC
  • Conducts and reviews operations staff evaluations and implements attendance policies. Make recommendations for promotions and generates disciplinary actions for operations staff.
  • Responsible for training and mentoring of operations staff
  • Ensures facility and equipment maintenance is meeting operational standards, conducts facility inspections, places service calls, and assists in managing the quality assurance program in the animal program. Assist in maintaining compliance for accreditation of animal care program (ARC SOPs, IACUC policies, the Guide, AWA, NIH Guidelines, USDA, CDC, PHS policy, etc.).
  • Assist Assistant Director of Operations and Financial Affairs Manager to plan and budget for departmental expenses.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret pricing agreements for purchases and services provided to ARC.
  • Recommend and help in facilitating vendor contracts and purchases for U. T. Southwestern. Places purchase requisitions for the ARC.
  • Serve as point of contact and coordinator for projects involving collaboration with various departments working with the ARC.
  • Perform hands on maintenance of ARC maintained equipment. Make recommendations for new/replacement equipment and/or services.
  • Serve as administrator of UT southwestern security system. Issue facility access in accordance with campus policies and procedures.
  • Assists with record keeping for purchasing and census collection for animal care program. Assist ARC Accounting Office with analyzing and correction of census data reports.
  • Assist ARC Department Safety Liaisons with maintenance of the ARC Disaster and Contingency Plan.
  • Develop and implement training materials for various departments and contract personnel working within the ARC facilities.
  • Collate and reviews weekly inventory requests and processes purchases made within the department.
  • Assists in record keeping for purchasing, census collection, and inventory for animal program.
  • Direct contact with a variety of animal species.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
