Minimum Qualifications
Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
Background in machining with a minimum of 3 years experience.
Position Summary
Work involves the application of mechanical skills to the maintenance and fabrication of instructional, experimental, research, and operational apparatus and equipment used in laboratories, classrooms, maintenance shops and farming.
Work emphasis is on the fabrication or apparatus for lab and research purposes and the maintenance of such equipment. Employees will exercise some discretion and judgement in determining techniques and methods for completion of the work and to develop a basic understanding of the subject field to which assigned. Assignments are received from instructional or research personnel either by sketches, blueprints and diagrams or orally. Unusual or special assignments are reviewed primarily by observation of results obtained.
This position will travel to different campus buildings to repair equipment and pick up materials as needed.

  • Use of Industrial powered vehicles, hazmat training.
  • Basic understanding of how to read blueprints.

Operates, maintains, repairs, cleans, rewires, greases, and rebuilds machinery and equipment.

Constructs and assembles components for experiments using various types of metal working tools, such as lathes, mills, drills, welding equipment, CNC mills, CNC lathes, CNC fiber laser, CO2 laser and sheet metal tools.
