Job Summary

Working under minimal supervision, the billing rep collects outstanding receivables. Due to the high volume of accounts, the specialist must be able to work under pressure and without constant supervision. The rep will encounter a variety of situations and must know how to resolve each type of situation.

Essential Functions
  • Collect outstanding receivables both from third party payers and patients.
  • Review outstanding receivables and correspondence to take appropriate action.
  • Answer phone inquiries, also check websites, and make calls to third party carriers to determine status of outstanding accounts.
  • Identify problems regarding billing, both by third party carriers and in-house billing system, and recommend solutions.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in third party payors, professional billing and AR follow-up.
  • Must have the ability to communicate complete and accurate information to third party payors, departments, and patients, as needed. Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of EPIC or One Contact.
  • Knowledge of 835 and 837 Files.
