S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Marketing and Communications function. As an Senior Technical Editor, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. The Senior Technical Editor & Writer is responsible for S&C Electric Company's internal and external communication activities and internal writing style and trademark ownership. This position works closely with leadership and cross-functional teams throughout the company to develop effective instructional and marketing materials for customers. The position requires an expert who is passionate about communications, has superb writing skills, has strong attention to detail and is comfortable working on a deadline. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a mix of technical editing (60%) and writing (40%).
- Edit, write, revise and proofread product instructional and marketing documentation for accuracy, logic and style conformance.
- Effectively translate product technical information into clear, step-style messaging for less technical audiences.
- Ensure proper S&C trademark use in all S&C content.
- Ensure all written content complies with S&C's Writing Style Manual (or AP Stylebook where appropriate).
- Manage product/sales support documentation request, writing/design and posting to S&C's Sales Manual.
- Regularly review, identify improvement, update S&C's writing and editing process in conjunction with the Editorial Team.
- Coach other S&C team members on their technical and creative writing.
- Collaborate with members of Creative Services, Editorial, Product Management, Software Engineering, Marketing and other appropriate parties to resolve issues and develop better process solutions.
- Manage project from concept to completion with limited supervision.
- Prioritize and efficiently manage day-to-day work, ongoing jobs and update project-management tools.
- Communicate with team members across departments to see problems from a different viewpoint.
- Set clear expectations with customers to define scope, schedule and goals for projects.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and offering solutions encompassing execution of annual projects and goals.
- Draw on experience and insights of fellow team members to find solutions and seeking out additional information when relevant with an ability to value collective insights.
- Commit to continued training for better understanding of the electrical industry and S&C products.
What you'll Need To Succeed: Job Requirements (To select this job at a minimum you must have the following):
- Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, English, Technical Writing or a Technical Degree or equivalent education.
- 5+ years of relevant experience with some (B2B experience).
- Ability to partner with Team Members from other department and provide effective coaching on internal communications best practices.
- Familiarity with the AP style of writing.
- Able to write edits and work quickly, be self-starting and punctual in preparing materials.
- Sound project management abilities with superb writing and copyediting skills.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, listening and presentation). Able to liaise with key stakeholders outside the marketing function and present compelling information and messaging.
- Sound interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, navigate and resolve conflict, moderate behaviors and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
- Sound organizational and multi-tasking skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced working environment.
- Great attention to detail with an analytical mindset and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Intermediate knowledge of the Adobe Suite is a plus (InDesign, Photoshop and Workfront)
Preferred
- Experience working within a manufacturing company.
- Experience in technical writing in a field related to mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering or manufacturing and engineering technology.
