About This Position

The Manager position is responsible for managing the execution of operational, tactical, and strategic activities on a day to day basis, including technical support for individual tasks. This position is responsible for determining time and resources needed to complete assignments and leads team members in prioritizing and completing assigned tasks and projects. This position is also responsible for people management activities including career planning/support, training, interviewing, hiring, rewarding, disciplining, and performance and salary reviews. The Manager position develops and maintains procedures that support team activities associated with specific area of expertise or responsibility and leads individuals in adhering to and supporting team procedures.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
  • Prepares and delivers informal and formal presentations to own team, department, other IT teams, and business partners.
  • Proactively seeks training and developmental activities related to the industry and recommends for self and others.
  • Assists others with identifying career development opportunities and develops training plans for team members.
  • Provides escalation assistance; recommends potential solutions to issues; follows established escalation procedures; resolves moderately complex issues.
  • Ensures compliance to and upholds the standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Defines, develops, communicates, and implements standards, processes, and procedures for the team. Also assists with defining departmental standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Establishes key performance metrics for the team and monitors to ensure compliance of established standards, processes, and procedures. Assists in the development of department metrics.
  • Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special.
  • Provides guidance and direction to professional individual contributors and/or skilled support individual contributors.
  • Acts as advisor to department and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems.
  • Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups.
  • Interacts daily with subordinate and functional peer groups.
  • Interaction normally requires the ability to gain consensus and cooperation of others from multiple areas/departments.
  • Collaborates and partners with subordinates and/or functional peer groups.
  • Collaboration may involve presentation and exchange of information.
  • Assist in managing outside vendor relationships.
  • Informally and formally coaches and mentors less senior team members individually or as a group.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • DB2 Experience required.
  • Solid understanding of Windows architecture.
  • Solid understanding of Visual Studio Environment.
  • Solid understanding of Relational Databases.
  • Requires strong supervisory skills: a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • Ability to work in a correctional environment.
  • Ability to define problems and resolve them quickly.
  • Ability to work well with ever changing priorities and or situations.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently or within a team.
  • Ability to travel on business as required.
