Clinical Psychologist - ADHD Service

We are seeking a full-time clinical psychologist to join our ADHD and Disruptive Behavior Disorders Service at our One Park Ave location. The position carries an academic appointment within the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, which is one of only two independent child and adolescent psychiatry departments within an academic medical center in the nation.

The ADHD and Disruptive Behavior Disorders Service specializes in parent management training (PMT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), group therapy, collaborative problem solving, and behavioral school consultation. We collaborate with the Early Childhood and Organizational Skills Therapy (OST)/Selective Mutism Services to offer Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), OST, behavior therapy, and other clinical services for patients from early childhood to young adulthood.

Ideal candidates are energetic clinicians with a commitment to clinical and academic excellence and an aptitude and enthusiasm for outpatient practice. This role requires proficiency in PMT, behavioral assessment and therapy, CBT, and the diagnostic evaluation of psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents. The ideal candidate would contribute to the growth of the Service via development and implementation of clinical programs, quality improvement and program evaluation initiatives, academic activities, and integration with our training and education programs via mentorship, teaching, and supervision.

Work Schedule

The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry supports a hybrid work arrangement. This position includes dedicated onsite space at our Manhattan office, with a structured onsite/remote schedule determined by clinical needs and space availability.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Evaluating of new patients with in-person and written feedback in a timely manner
  • Providing evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatments to children, adolescents and their families in individual, parent training, family, and group modalities
  • Providing consultation to schools and other community institutions
  • Contributing and/or leading collaborations focused on improving care for children with ADHD and disruptive behavior disorders
  • Supervising and teaching of trainees across disciplines
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews and contribute to individualized treatment planning
  • Participating in continuing education such as weekly Case Conference and Grand Rounds
  • Participating in 2-3 direct activities that support our department's mission to disseminate evidence-based information, including providing Child Study Center parent workshops, writing for the website, speaking on DoctorRadio and/or equivalent annually
  • Participating in research activities when appropriate
  • Adhering to the code of ethics of your professional organization and the medical center

Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The annual salary range for a full-time junior faculty role is $114,420 to $116,792. Candidates who qualify for higher faculty appointments are also encouraged to apply. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including faculty appointment, credentials, research history, specialty, and health system need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

In addition to the annual salary listed, psychologists are typically eligible for supplemental compensation ranging from $31,300 to $80,000 in the first year of practice.

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology from an APA or CPA accredited institution
  • Completion of APA or CPA accredited pre-doctoral internship
  • Licensed or license eligible in the State of New York
