Overview

Providence Medical Center is looking for a per diem, variable shift PBX/Telephone Operator (PRN) to join our growing Admitting team, internally referred to as a Telephone Attendant in Admitting or a Phone Operator. A PBX/Telephone Operator handles internal and external communications for the hospital admitting department.

Responsibilities

The PBX Operator duties include, but are not limited to:

  • answering the switchboard and pages overhead
  • greets and directs people to the appropriate departments
  • monitors the hospital alarms
  • must be aware of the policy and procedures of all hospital emergency codes
  • ability to use a switchboard or phone system to manage multiple phone lines
  • ability to communicate with population served
  • shift needed: variable 8 hour shift


Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • previous experience in an office or receptionist
  • effective written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • ability to multi-task and prioritize needs to meet required timelines
  • analytical and problem-solving skills
  • high school graduate or GED equivalent,

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:

  • previous PBX experience
  • customer service experience
