Patients have multiple medical diagnoses offering a variety of healthcare experiences for nurses. Medical Surgical Nurses develop a well rounded knowledge base and are able to care for a wide range of different patients. The wide range of diagnoses coupled with the Care in Place model makes for a highly satisfying specialty. Nurses have the experience of caring for patients holistically and interact with multiple disciplines to navigate there patients through the hospital stay. They strive to provide an exceptional experience every time to patients and their families.New Grad Residency: Salem Health offers a comprehensive New Graduate RN Residency Program with a focus on transition from the new graduate nurse to novice registered nurse practicing in a hospital setting. During the first three weeks, newly hired employees spend time focusing solely on learning about the culture at Salem Hospital and specific educational topics essential to beginning a bedside Registered Nurse career. Highly experienced educators work hand in hand with current bedside Registered Nurses to present both lectures and hands on in a controlled environment. Educational topics include a focus on infection prevention, wound care, risk management, critical thinking, documentation and ethics. Following the initial three week orientation the new graduate nurse will be assigned to a primary preceptor on their unit of hire. Each preceptor has participated in an initial specialized training course with ongoing annual education. The nursing leadership team and preceptors on each unit continue to provide frequent, collaborative feedback, support and encouragement throughout the initial eight to ten week orientation period. Orientation is tailored made to each individual new graduated. Our goal is to help support each individual transition into a confident, independent bedside RN. Bachelor of Arts in nursing also accepted. Candidates with an Associate's degree in nursing (ADN) also encouraged to apply. *Agreement to complete BSN within three (3) years of hire required.Less than one (1) year of nursing experience required.Unencumbered licensure to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon required one week prior to hire date.BLS required.Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics is an equal opportunity employer.
