Essential Job Duties |
The
Department of Molecular Biomedical Sciences (
MBS) at the
College of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University invites applications for a tenure/tenure-track or professional track position in Nutrition
at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The Nutrition Service at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine is a crucial component of our research, teaching, and clinical missions. Therefore, we are open to recruiting multiple faculty.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide nutritional consults and clinical service as needed, contribute to teaching, contribute to house officer and graduate student training, and engage in research related to animal nutrition and its clinical implications. We expect this position to synergize with the continued growth of the emergency and critical care, small animal internal medicine, and/or gastroenterology groups.
The incumbent will oversee nutrition clinical case management, provide high-quality clinical and pre-clinical teaching, demonstrate research productivity through the procurement of external grant funding and the publication of peer-reviewed scientific papers, and participate in college and departmental committees.
Faculty in a professional clinical track position spend the majority of their time in the clinical service, with a small proportion of their time dedicated to research. By contrast, faculty in tenure/tenure-track positions are expected to develop and/or run an independent research program, with a focus in clinical, translational, and/or basic research in the nutrition sciences.
Many collaborative research opportunities exist within NC State University, including the Comparative Medicine Institute. The faculty member will have the opportunity to collaborate outside of
NCSU, including with the Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease, and other Triangle-wide collaborations with
UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke University, Wake Forest University, and industry.
