Position Overview:
As the Landscape Construction Project Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting the overall success of high-value landscape construction projects. Working closely with the Project Manager and field teams, you'll assist with scheduling, budgeting, process flows, and quality control - ensuring that each project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
Responsibilities:
Project Oversight & Coordination:
- Assist the Project Manager in overseeing the financial performance of projects.
- Manage project schedules, staging, and process flows to keep projects on track.
- Handle project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, material requests, and close-out reports.
- Identify and resolve bid discrepancies to maintain project profitability.
- Work with Purchasing staff to ensure material buyouts are completed at or below budget.
- Oversee subcontractor performance and manage change orders as needed.
Quality Control & Process Improvement:
- Ensure project quality meets or exceeds company and client expectations.
- Monitor project progress and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Assist with job site visits and walk-throughs to evaluate project performance.
- Support the implementation of process improvements to maximize efficiency and profitability.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Office Staff to coordinate project activities.
- Communicate regularly with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution.
- Contribute to a positive, team-spirited work environment.
Financial Oversight:
- Track project costs and ensure accurate reporting.
- Provide cost analysis and forecasting to support budget management.
- Assist with billing and financial reporting to maintain accurate project accounting.
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all project activities comply with company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Promote a safety-first culture on job sites.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 2-5 years of experience in landscape construction or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience as a project engineer or related role
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and construction software (On-Screen Takeoff is a plus).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of contract documentation and construction processes.
- Bilingual in Spanish is helpful but not required.
