National Grid Ventures is hiring a Lead Analyst, Business Development (MISO). The hybrid role can be located in our Brooklyn, NY, Boston, MA or Waltham, MA office.

Job Purpose

The Business Development Lead Analyst (Analyst) will support NGV's efforts to capitalize on the growing opportunity for investment in competitive transmission in ISOs and RTOs across the US by conducting market research, developing insights, and leading analyses to support the origination, development, and delivery of competitive transmission projects in the MISO region. This role will lead the team's analysis of the competitive landscape, market/policy research, and energy market analysis to support project valuation, strategic decision making, and risk evaluation to grow the pipeline of competitive transmission opportunities in MISO.

The analyst will work closely with the Business Development Manager to evaluate opportunities for investment, identify strategic partners, develop competitive bids, and coordinate efforts across internal teams to ensure implementation of NGV's strategy to enhance its position in the market.

The Analyst will be self-directed, have a track record of collaborating across business functions, experience preparing materials for senior executives, the ability to understand how to create value and implement strategies to drive revenue and profitability and possess knowledge of strategy refinement toolkits.

Key Accountabilities

* Monitor the industry and identify key market developments to advise on risks and opportunities for investment; contribute to strategic planning and positioning in light of evolving opportunities
* Gather competitive intelligence to gain insights on competitor projects and positioning in MISO to support relevant teams in business case analysis, risk evaluation, and investment decision making
* Develop deep knowledge of the MISO competitive transmission market context and contribute to the development of the NGV value proposition and business model options in MISO
* Support the development of bid proposals into competitive transmission solicitations, including the evaluation of solicitation criteria to develop bid strategy, and cross-workstream coordination to ensure delivery of competitive proposals
* Lead reviewing, compiling, and organizing critical business documents and materials for bid submissions into competitive transmission solicitations
* Contribute to development of executive level presentation materials

Qualifications

* Minimum: Bachelor's degree, advanced post graduate degree preferred with relevant work experience (5-7 years preferred).
* Experience working with or in the power sector or on strategy projects in a consulting or corporate work environment is a plus;
* Knowledge of the US power industry structures, policies, regulations & market fundamentals, including relevant FERC Orders and ISO Tariffs, experience in MISO is a plus
* Familiarity with recent trends in transmission development and renewable generation
* Familiarity with project development (ex. permitting, staffing, scheduling, estimating, etc.)
* Detail-oriented, proactive, with strong quantitative & analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate to find solutions and follow a problem through to the end.
* Ability to translate data, competitive intelligence, and model outputs into business insights and articulate impact/implications of results on the business;
* Advanced writing/power point skills a plus

Salary

Downstate NY $143,000 - $168,000 a year

New England MA $133,000 - $157,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
