Job Description

WGL - Transmission Integrity Engineer

Washington Gas has an immediate opening for a Transmission Integrity Engineer to provide assistance to the Transmission Integrity Management Program (TIMP) by performing risk analysis on pipeline assets and investigating and maintaining historical engineering records related to pipeline integrity. Supports pipeline integrity projects to enhance the safety and reliability of transmission and high pressure pipelines. ***We are open to hiring at the Engineer I, II or II level depending on experience.

You Will

  • Perform risk analysis on transmission assets and recommend measures to reduce risk.

  • Supports pipeline integrity processes, including records research for existing transmission and high pressure pipelines, class location studies, and Specified Minimum Yield Strength (SMYS) calculations.

  • Coordinates documentation collection processes for existing and future engineering pipeline projects, including review of pressure test reports for completeness.

  • Assists with pipeline integrity management initiatives, including identifying process and procedure improvement opportunities, evaluating options, and recommending and implementing changes.

  • Assists higher-level engineers on transmission and high pressure projects, such as External Corrosion Direct Assessment (ECDA) and In-line Inspection (ILI).

  • Assists with pipeline material testing processes for materials verification, including shipping pipe samples to materials testing labs, and the tracking & reviewing of material test reports.

  • Participates in and assists with transmission integrity management program audits.

  • Stay current with new PHMSA regulations and advisory bulletins and assists with implementation of new requirements.

You must have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required

Engineer Level I

  • Internship or previous relevant experience a plus.

  • "Engineer-in-Training" (EIT) Certification preferred.

Engineer Level II

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in the natural gas or related industry required.

  • "Engineer-in-Training" (EIT) Certification preferred.

  • "Project Management Professional" (PMP) Certification preferred.

Engineer Level III

  • 3+ Years in the natural gas industry or related industry is required

  • NACE Certification Preferred

  • Engineer-in-training (EIT) Certification is required, or

  • "Project Management Professional" (PMP) Certification required

  • Professional Engineering (PE) Certification is preferred

We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000.00 to $113,250.00 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
