About the Job

UMD FM Material Handling Worker
Full-time, summer, Monday-Friday, 40 hours a week for 67 days.

Duties:
Positions in this class perform a variety of tasks in a warehouse, storehouse, stockroom, office setting (These examples do not include all possible tasks in this work and do not limit the assignment of related tasks in any position of this class).
* Unloads and unpacks deliveries of materials, supplies, and equipment as received from vendors and common carriers. Receive, sign, and check incoming shipments against delivery receipts and purchase orders, record shortages, overages, or other discrepancies. Reports to supervisor of product quality deficiencies, breakage, loss, and back orders; delivers materials to various locations on and off campus; delivers Facilities Management stock items to FM units and satellite stockrooms; makes necessary pick-ups and/or deliveries for Facilities Management as requested.
* Issues and accounts for supplies, equipment, and materials. Takes periodic physical inventories of stock; Counts, codes, wraps, fills and addresses outgoing orders. Stocks shelves and office supply cabinets, inspect stockroom regularly and maintain a clean and orderly stock. Assists in maintaining departmental equipment to ensure it is in good operating and clean condition.
* Answers phone; operates with efficiency and accuracy a variety of office equipment such as fax machine, copy machine, computer and printer. May call to check on status of purchase orders and does misc. filing.
* Enter data in computer-based tracking program.
* Operates medium or light duty trucks that may be equipped with power tailgate throughout campus; informs supervisor of needed repairs on equipment; keeps trucks clean and orderly; operates hydraulic lifting equipment, 2 and 4 wheeled hand carts and furniture dollies in the unloading and delivery of materials, supplies and equipment.
* Regularly assigned light to medium duty moves of furniture and office equipment into and out of office buildings.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
* Valid Class D Minnesota Driver's License and no chargeable driving offenses within the 12 months preceding employment
* Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
* The candidate must be able to work in the summer months May through August.
* Experience in a warehouse, storehouse or dock work setting is preferred.
* Familiarity with computer-based record keeping and common clerical procedures
* Must pass background check

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $21.63 per hour
