Receives, stores, and distributes equipment, materials and supplies for Baltimore City Public Schools Food and Nutrition. Drives vehicles such as automobiles, vans, buses, panel or pick-up trucks and other 2 to 6-ton trucks and perform laboring tasks.


Essential Functions



  • Examines incoming shipments or verifies receipts of the correct type and quantities of materials and supplies.
  • Stores items at designated locations.
  • Reviews requisitions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assigns, reviews, and monitors receipts, storage and issuance of food, equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Packs and unpacks materials and supplies. Maintains accurate records to ensure ordering required materials and supplies in a timely manner.
  • Completes periodic physical inventory of stock. Reports missing items/supplies to supervisor.
  • Lifts, pushes, shoves and hauls heavy stock items.
  • Observes warehouse activities and reports irregular activities. Coordinates with supervisor to address concerns.
  • Operates equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks to deliver and haul personnel, goods, materials, supplies, equipment, food, trash, or mail to various school sites.
  • Performs laborious tasks on such areas as unloading of vehicles or equipment set-up.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • May drive or operate larger vehicles when necessary.
  • Plans and schedules the distribution of food, materials, equipment and supplies.
  • Reviews completed daily delivery tickets, driver logs and route sheets.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies and the professional standards.

Desired Qualifications



  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • One year of storing and issuing equipment and supplies or performing office support work experience.
  • Maryland Class Noncommercial or equivalent out-of-state driver's license with good driving record and not more than 3 points.
  • Skilled in the safe operation of automobiles, trucks, tractors and other related vehicles.
  • Evidence of satisfactory or better job performance with good attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to perform automotive preventive maintenance work and laborer tasks.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures, sanitation, food safety, and school meal procedures mandated by local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Knowledge of the procedures for receiving, storing and shipping materials and supplies.
  • Knowledge of the methods and procedures of taking inventory.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment.
  • Ability to maintain simple stock records.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

In accordance with Maryland law, City School is required to share the position salary ranges in its entirety. Please note, this is not the hiring range. The hiring range for this position is ($18.02 - $21.24).
