Description
Responsible for the planning, organizing, and monitoring of activities for our Orlando preferred properties, focusing on the delegation of account assignments and enforcing standards/procedures that result in projects being on-time, within budget, and to the client's complete satisfaction regarding our Electrical, Cleaning, and Tradeshow business. It also entails full cycle management of all the team throughout the preferred properties as well as assisting the General Manager with department-wide initiatives. Responsibilities:
- Structure, lead, train and develop staff in our Preferred properties
- Create and maintain a positive relationship with key staff at the Preferred properties; this will include (but not limited to) General Manager, Director of Sales, Convention Services team and their support teams; Solicit continual feedback on GES performance, improvements and service expectations
- Proactively develop fully integrated implantation plans for assigned show portfolio to ensure planned labor and show margins are met or exceeded
- Serve as a member of the management team driving regional improvements in growth and profitability with focus on achieving departmental target goals
- Drive Key Performance Indicator goals within the Operation Team on Events/Lines of Business
- Conduct interviews and make recommendations for new hires, consultants, and replacement personnel
- Administer annual reviews and recommend merit increases, while staying within company budget
- Monitor daily workloads and account assignments, providing a balance between all team members
- Attend pre-cons, site inspections and hotel planning functions when needed
- Assist team with individual tasks or whole projects during busy periods and ensure processes run smoothly on time, and final results are executed without flaws
- Adhere to and help create all Business Standard Operating Procedures
- Work to develop effective systems to streamline procedures and enhance overall group performance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or other business-related field preferred
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a supervisory role or equivalent
- Prior supervisory or management experience preferred. Must demonstrate ability to lead people and get results through others
- Experience in employee training, mentoring and development
- Experience in hotel, convention and trade show industry preferred
- Ability to communicate customer-focused concepts within, and outside, the department.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
- Excellent communications skills, demonstrated ability to reach people through highly developed verbal and oral skills
- Solid organizational and time management skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Labor management experience
Work Environment:
- May require frequent local travel
- Typically performs work in an office setting
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends on-site at the Orlando Preferred Properties. This role is not a remote position.
- Position may require long hours for several months of the year. Typically performs work on the event floor, in noisy and crowded areas or in outside event locations.
- Frequently encounters uncomfortable temperatures, dust and/or other conditions.
- Requires working both alone and with others in a team atmosphere.
- Requires working with union and Non-Union employees.
