BlueHalo is seeking a Control Systems Engineer with a diverse set of hardware control and software interface experience to join our team working at the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) in Dayton, OH.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Control Systems Engineer/Analyst will analyze and solve automation equipment challenges to provide effective control system for a variety of new and existing lab equipment. The successful candidate will understand, maintain and troubleshoot control systems, including PLC controllers and industrial networks such as motor control systems, HV power supplies, variable frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems. This position requires the ability to consider equipment reliability and maintain safe interface with equipment such as lasers, vacuum system, and motion control systems. As a member of a small, focused team the candidate will be a technical consultant for system control projects inside the building. For many projects this will include training users in system operational procedures, control interfaces, and documentation access. The control systems engineer must work with safety officers to ensure compliance with safety regulations and organization policies.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL BRING



  • This position is working within a government facility and requires U.S. Citizenship
  • Associate's degree in computer sciences, Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or other related engineering discipline. Additional experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience within an industrial controls environment which includes PLC programming, I/O, communication networks and AC, DC, single / three-phase
  • Must be able to demonstrate electrical knowledge of 24v AC/DC control circuits, electrical knowledge of 120v power and control circuits, knowledge of 277v-480v power circuits


Additional Experience Preferred:



  • Experienced with Rockwell Automation Software, Allen-Bradley RS Logix PLC software
  • Ability to wire-up and successfully operate a 3-phase motor controller
  • Demonstrated use of digital multimeter and functions
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret electrical, pneumatic, plumbing schematics, and existing control system ladder diagrams
  • Ability to understand and interpret mechanical and architectural drawings
  • Experience with robotics/mechanical actuator systems (belts, drives, encoders)
  • Experience with electrical theory, Robotics, Controls components, automated equipment
  • Experience with networked VFD I/O (EtherNet, DeviceNet)
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or other Autodesk software to read electrical drawings and schematics
  • Proficiency in technical writing and presentations


CLEARANCE



  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
