Position: Bell Labs Opto-Electronic Research Fall Coop 2025

Number of Position(s): 1

Duration: 4 months+

Date: September 2nd, 2025- December 19th, 2025

Location: Onsite - Murray Hill, NJ

EDUCATIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS: Currently a PhD candidate in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with an accredited school in the US.

Collaborate with our researchers to push the state of the art in advanced photonic devices:



  • Simulation / modeling of thin-film lithium niobate photonic integrated circuits (PICs)
  • Performing experimental characterization of new PICs
  • Present research findings through oral presentations within the team
  • Generate publications for the leading conferences and journals in the field of photonics


  • Demonstrated hands-on experiences and publications in the area of integrated photonics including silicon, silicon nitride, lithium niobate or III-V integrated photonics
  • Experience on testing and characterization of optoelectronic devices and systems
  • In-depth understanding of semiconductor physics and devices
  • Problem-solving mind, creative and good communication skills


It would be nice if you had:



  • Experience on design and optimization of photonic devices and photonic integrated circuits
  • Experience on photonic integrated circuit design tools
