Budget Analyst / Specialist

Position Summary
DarkStar Intelligence is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Budget Analyst / Specialist to support a government client in Quantico, Virginia. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in overseeing financial processes, analyzing budgets, and ensuring compliance with government travel and funding regulations. This position involves collaborating with government budget analysts and student travelers, managing travel order funding and reimbursements, preparing financial reports, and conducting cost analyses for school programs. The selected individual will demonstrate exceptional proficiency in financial systems, such as the Defense Travel System (DTS), and excel in providing clear, professional communication. Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Serve as a primary liaison between government budget analysts and student travelers, facilitating the travel order funding and reimbursement process while ensuring financial requirements for the program are met and effectively communicated.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports, conduct detailed cost and trend analyses of school programs, and provide additional financial and budgetary support as requested by the Government.
  • Deliver briefings to students on preparing travel authorizations and navigating the travel funding and reimbursement process.
  • Accurately input student travel authorization and voucher data into the Defense Travel System (DTS), ensuring compliance with the Joint Federal Travel Regulations (JFTR) and specific course funding requirements.
  • Monitor and manage voucher submissions, track outstanding vouchers, and provide prompt, professional responses to student inquiries or concerns regarding voucher processing status.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Top Secret/SCI Clearance
  • Counterintelligence Polygraph (preferred)
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in budget analysis, including proficiency with the Defense Travel System (DTS).
  • Demonstrated expertise in using Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across various stakeholders.
Salary Range
$90,000 - 100,000
This pay range is a general guideline and not a guarantee of specific compensation or salary.
