Current Need

We are seeking a skilled CMDB Operations Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will ensure the CMDB is accurate and complete by overseeing data updates and process execution. The CMDB Operations Specialist works collaboratively with IT teams to maintenance CMDB accuracy and drive operational excellence within the McKesson environment.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

  • Perform the daily operational activities of the CMDB, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain and update the CMDB, ensuring all configuration items (CIs) are accurately recorded and managed.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of CMDB data through routine data validation and reconciliation activities.
  • Assist users with data certification efforts to ensure CMDB accuracy.
  • Work closely with IT teams, including Service Management, Infrastructure, and Application teams, to ensure CMDB data supports operational and strategic goals.
  • Ensure CMDB processes are effective and identify improvements to processes.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to CMDB operations and best practices.
  • Provide training and support to McKesson team members on CMDB usage, best practices and operational procedures.
  • Test enhancements to CMDB impacting processes to ensure accuracy and completeness is maintained.
  • Participate in audits and compliance checks to ensure adherence to organization policies and standards.
  • Assist with onboarding of new managed classes to CMDB, ensuring proper documentation and categorization of configuration items.
  • Proactive approach to identifying operational bottlenecks and proposing solutions.

Minimum Requirements

  • Typically requires 3+ years relevant experience
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Experience with CMDB tool (ServiceNow or similar)

Critical Skills

  • Strong understanding of the ITIL framework and the ITSM, ITOM, ITAM processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and provide actionable insights.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data management and analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Hands on experience with configuration management concepts and tools.
  • Requirements gathering and facilitation experience.

Additional Skills

  • Relevant professional certification (e.g., ITIL credentials), strongly preferred.

Education

4-year degree or related field or equivalent experience

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $109,700 - $182,900
