Location One of the longest-standing hotels in Downtown L.A., Hotel Figueroa recently completed a stunning restoration by award-winning design agency Studio Collective. Overview The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department to ensure a high standard of cleanliness, service, and guest satisfaction. This role involves supervising housekeeping staff, managing schedules, inspecting guest rooms and public areas, coordinating with other departments, and maintaining inventory of supplies. Responsibilities Lead, train, schedule, and supervise housekeeping staff, including room attendants, housepersons, and laundry personnel. Ensure that all guestrooms, public spaces, and employee areas meet the highest standards of cleanliness and appearance. Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, and laundry facilities. Maintain par levels of linens and housekeeping supplies and coordinate purchasing with the procurement department. Implement and maintain health and safety standards, ensuring OSHA compliance. Address guest complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring complete guest satisfaction. Manage labor costs through efficient scheduling and staffing. Prepare daily reports on occupancy, room status, and cleaning progress; coordinate with the Front Office and Maintenance departments. Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new housekeeping employees. Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and standards. Ensure compliance with brand standards (if applicable) and property-specific procedures. Support initiatives for sustainability and responsible consumption (e.g., linen reuse programs). Assist with budgeting, inventory management, and cost control initiatives. Prepares daily room attendant assignments according to established productivity. Review and prep VIP checklist and VIP rooms. Qualifications Education & Experience: Must be proficient in Windows, Company approved spreadsheets and word processing. Long hours sometimes required. Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner. Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests. Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines. Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner. Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings. Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required. Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel. Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations. Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions. Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary. Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
