THE POSITION

If so, consider joining the State Police Bureau of Training and Education, Basic Training Division as a Maintenance Repairman 2. This position allows you to utilize your trades experience to complete tasks related to building maintenance, mechanical and electrical trades, as well as grounds maintenance at the State Police Academy Complex in Hershey and the Driver's Training Center located at Fort Indiantown Gap. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will perform a variety of tasks including carpentry, masonry, HVAC, and plumbing duties. Work involves repairing walls, partitions, and door frames, as well as painting walls, concrete fences, and ceilings. You will be responsible for installing and repairing concrete sidewalks and curbs; performing roof repairs, welding, and brazing; and fixing and installing various plumbing equipment, such as sinks, toilets, showers, and pipes. You will also be performing routine maintenance on building structures and systems. In addition, you will perform ground maintenance to include mowing grass, mulching, and snow removal. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $39,003.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
