Summary/Description: The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Retzky College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking recruiting for a research specialist in the Department of Pharmacy Practice with Dr. Paola Rosas' laboratory supported by NIH and AHA funding. Our laboratory aims to understand the relation between heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and metabolic disorders that are more frequently seen in postmenopausal women. We focus on P21-activated kinase 1 (PAK1) regulatory activities and how these activities are governed by estrogens in the heart and the adipose tissue. We have different murine models of heart failure and we use non-invasive and invasive techniques to evaluate cardiac function and metabolism.
