Description
The Associate Planner plays a vital role in supporting the production planning process to meet our division's sales and delivery objectives. This position involves organizing, maintaining, and analyzing production schedules, job orders, and related data. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of production processes, scheduling principles, and ERP systems to ensure smooth workflow across departments. Key Responsibilities:
- Create and release job orders to the shop floor, ensuring all required job packet documents (headers, routers, pick lists, travelers, etc.) are included.
- Maintain the master production schedule to align operations with required shipping timelines.
- Receive and fulfill transfer orders from internal departments and external sites (e.g., Corporate or Parts).
- Monitor and update work orders, including rescheduling and closure as necessary.
- Coordinate with Production and Shipping to ensure timely delivery of finished goods.
- Provide regular updates on work order status, material availability, and potential production bottlenecks.
- Conduct daily job order progress checks and collaborate with department supervisors on job status.
- Create, update, and maintain item master data in the ERP system.
- Review and resolve system-generated exception messages.
- Perform additional duties and special assignments as directed by management.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Prepare reports and summaries as required.
- Maintain accurate production records and job files.
- Support the company's commitment to safety by actively participating in safety initiatives.
- Adhere to all corporate environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably Infor Syteline or similar MRP software
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Solid understanding of production planning and scheduling concepts
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify issues and propose solutions
- Team-oriented and capable of working across departments
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles (Kaizen) is a plus
Pay Rate: $23-$27/HR Work Environment: In office 5 M-F, office setting. Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience in a production control, planning, or scheduling role
- Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred (not required)
