Data Governance Analyst

Job Summary

Responsible for implementing the day-to-day needs of the data governance and data quality program. Participate in recommending and implementing policies and procedures for data governance approved by the Data Governance council and Data Governance team. Identify data quality opportunities and drive compliance with data governance and quality initiatives. Ensure data governance opportunities are identified and addressed throughout the project life cycle.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Create and maintain a culture of Data Governance by partnering with functional data owners to promote best practices, standards, principles, and policies.
  • Facilitate and promote the usage and adoption of data governance tools, processes, and procedures among functional business users.
  • Monitor data quality metrics to understand the health of data and impacts on business results.
  • Lead the resolution of data quality issues discovered by data quality reporting.
  • Develop and deploy active/passive data governance initiatives to identify and resolve data inaccuracies, inconsistencies, or redundancies.
  • Engage in the evaluation of all system improvements and emerging technologies pertinent to data governance tools or those that influence master data.
  • Conduct testing and user acceptance of new system functionality.
  • Experience with data mapping rules/transformation logic: Particularly for acquisitions and integrations.

Nature and Scope

  • Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information, inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.
  • Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by supervisor and/or direct "customers" of the process.
  • May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support personnel or professional personnel.

Work Environment

  • Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about. Occasionally there may be a requirement to stoop or lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older
  • Must pass pre-employment assessment(s) if applicable

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 2-5 years of experience in related field; certification is required in some areas OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in related field. Certification is required in some areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Analytical problem-solving skills: Ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets and translate them into actionable strategies.

  • Proactive mindset: Proficiency in identifying and addressing potential issues before they escalate. This involves early intervention, risk mitigation, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Strong communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate complex data issues to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Technical skills: Experience with shared data and database languages such as SQL, and familiarity with specific programming languages.

  • MS/MA and 2-4 years of experience in a related field; or 3-5 years of experience in a related field.

  • Experience with the MDM tool Enterworks/Precisely and the ERP D365 is a plus.
