The Anesthesia Technician position assists licensed anesthesia providers in the clinical settings. They perform their duties under the direct supervision of a licensed anesthesia provider and/or Registered Nurse (RN) and following the CHCO policies and procedures. The role is responsible for acquisition, preparation and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia. EXPERIENCE - 1 year healthcare experience preferred CERTIFICATION(S): BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform. Provides anesthesia set up for cases by completing the anesthesia machine check out, assisting with first line trouble shooting of anesthesia equipment, conducting inventory of anesthesia machine drawer for appropriate equipment, ensures equipment is in working condition and restocks Anesthesia Work Station (AWS)between cases and maintains safe work environment. Removes the anesthesia equipment from the room post-case, removes equipment from poles and prepares for Sterile Processing department pick up. Disinfects the machine and AWS between cases and at the end of the day. Assists in positioning and preparing patient for procedures as directed. Sets up the rapid infuser, ultrasound, fiber optic scopes, video laryngoscope, trans-illuminators, pressure lines, IV lines, sterile trays and positioning devices. During procedure, under direction from provider, anticipates and provides equipment needed, preparing and dressing line insertion sites. Prepares supplies necessary for invasive line placement. Assists Anesthesia provider with patient transport. Coordinates with external departments to ensure appropriate equipment is available. Complexity: Duties assigned are generally repetitive and restricted in scope but may be of substantial intricacy. Employee primarily applies standardized practices. Problems that are not covered by guidelines or that are without precedent are taken up with the supervisor. Communications: Contacts with team members, clients or the public where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, gathered, or presented and some degree of discretion and judgment are required within the parameters of the job function. Supervision Received: Under normal supervision, within a standardized work situation, the employee performs duties common to the line of work without close supervision or detailed instruction. Work product is subject to continual review. Salary Information Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
