Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Systems Interoperability and Integration Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) program, which is within the Aerial Networks Division (AFLCMC/HNA) and located at Hanscom AFB, MA.

This position provides operational and technical subject matter expertise supporting the Aerial Network Division on the integration and operation of communication and data link systems on USAF airborne and ground platforms in a complex, coalition battlefield environment.

LOCATION: Hanscom AFB, MA

JOB STATUS: Full Time, Salaried

SECURITY CLEARANCE: An active US security clearance is required

JOB RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Advise and assist the Division leadership with respect to application and integration of Link 16 mil standards, specifically Mil Std 6016, on a variety of Air Force systems.
  • Advise Program Managers on issues and best practices integration and operation of communication and data link systems within operational systems.
  • Participate in government led meetings and discussions to form and align integration strategies for communication and data links present and future systems
  • Provide datalink expertise and guidance on the technical aspects and status of operational systems including terminals and ground support systems.
  • Provide Link 16 network operation and design expertise to include network design and management, and cryptographic applications and management.
  • Provide leadership and staff status updates on the latest Link 16 waveform changes and systems upgrades.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with the development, application, and integration of data link waveforms on DoD datalink platforms including airborne and ground systems
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Mil Std 6016F/G (Tactical Datalink 16 Message Standard)
  • Knowledge and experience of the applications of Link 16 message formats in an operational environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, providing quality acquisition and program documentation (briefings, documents, plans, etc.)
  • Bachelors degree and 15 years of experience, of which 5 years must be within the DoD
