What we offer:

* Salary: $60,000 - $65,000

Job Functions:

The Senior Accountant, Grants and Contracts will be responsible for providing oversight of both the day-to-day activities in post award fiscal administration and significant financial data collection and reporting tasks for all designated fund accounting functions within the organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise all Grants and Contracts accounting staff, providing training and onboarding assistance where needed.
  2. Review and approve all monthly billings.
  3. Regularly review established grants to ensure accurate recording of both revenue and expense and maintain reconciliation of grant actuals to budget.
  4. Meet with grant accounting staff monthly to review grant activity for proper and timely expenditure of grant funds and recommend adjustments are needed.
  5. Perform grant close-out functions for all grants, including fiscal year-end reconciliations, final invoices, final reconciliations at the completion of the grants, and journal entries as needed.
  6. Assist the Accounting Manager with the preparation and submission of quarterly financial reports to grant funders.
  7. Assist the Accounting Manager with the preparation of grant budgets for awarded grants to be imported to the financial system.
  8. Assist the Accounting Manager in the compilation of year-end reports, work papers and back-up needed for various designated fund audits.
  9. Provide and/or review proposed grant budgets as requested.
  10. Support the Holiday Center Operation as directed.
  11. Support the team in other tasks as assigned.
  12. Meets personal goals and actively contributes to the achievement of team and organizational targets/goals.
Requirements

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required with at least 2-5 years of experience working with Grants and fund accounting is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Skills Requirements:

Must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary team framework; dependability; demonstrates maturity and sensitivity to issues of faith, culture, and other sources of diversity; confidentiality of customer information; ability to handle job related matters in a professional and diplomatic manner.

Requires heart for ministry and comfort working with poor and homeless families and individuals. Requires understanding of poverty, a high degree of maturity, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with low socio-economic and diverse populations facing crisis situations in a professional and diplomatic manner. Knowledge of community resources available to homeless population.

Physical Requirements:

Hearing and speaking ability which allows for effective oral communication of information; physical, emotional, and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress.

Other:

Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States. Must pass applicable pre-employment background screening procedures.
