Bridge Engineer I

Position Overview:

The primary focus of the Bridge Engineer will be to serve as lead engineer for primarily PA bridge projects and possibly some other clients, to include the planning, analysis and design of bridge projects ranging from conventional to innovative bridge types.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Perform structural load calculations and bridge plan / specifications development.
• Oversee geometric layout and quantity development.
• Check design calculations / construction cost estimates / plan development produced by other engineers.
• Typical bridge projects include precast concrete girder (pre-stressed and/or post-tensioned) and steel plate or steel box girder for highway, waterway, and rail projects.
• Strong technical skills in Engineering analysis and design combined with a proven background of technical leadership on these types of projects.
• Perform as a Technical Specialist or Task Leader on large projects and supervise Junior Engineers in the performance of engineering tasks.

• Report preparation and frequent client interaction.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required.
• EIT required; PE preferred.

• 4+ years of experience in Bridge Design in a professional setting.
• Experience in all aspects of bridge design projects.
• Experience with Bridge Inspection is a plus but not required.
• Computer program proficiency: Microsoft Office, Structural analysis software (LARSA, SAP etc.), Structural design software (LEAP products BDS products PCA Col etc.), PennDOT Design Software.
• Knowledge of Bentley MicroStation is preferred, OpenBridge Designer (OBD) is a plus.
• Ability to work with various teams - internal and external - as required.
