Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Senior Specialist, Butane Blending with experience in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our growing team!

Role Summary:

The Senior Specialist, Butane Blending role is responsible for overseeing and implementing the Company's butane blending program

Responsibilities & Essential Functions include:



  • Butane Blending Programs. Maintain and provide direct ownership of Buckeye's Butane Blending programs, measurement policies, inventory balancing support, product specifications, shipper guidelines, and training for terminals and pipelines.
  • Butane Blending Liaison. Serving as the primary liaison to our butane blending partners and ensuring all Buckeye stakeholders are represented and communicated with when butane MOC issues occur.
  • Complete day to day support regarding measurement/inventory discrepancy investigations to include:
  • Customer loss/gain ticket volume requests
  • Buckeye identified loss/gain connecting carrier volume discrepancies
  • BET folio or EOM inventory loss/gain tolerance exceedances
  • Pipeline inventory loss/gain tolerance exceedances
  • Connection carrier transmix generation investigations
  • Transmix Minimization
  • New and Expansion Projects. Working with Marketing and Engineering to contribute to future butane blending projects, including the installation of systems at new facilities and the expansion of existing systems.
  • Budget Management. Developing, monitoring, forecasting, and having direct ownership of the budget(s) for Butane Blending Facilities.
  • Butane Blending Manuals. Developing, maintain, and be primary responsibility for the butane blending manual, including training modules and frequencies for all employees associated with butane blending.
  • New Technologies. Researching and recommending new technologies or product specifications.
  • Policies and Procedures. Supporting development and/or approval of policies and procedures required for appropriate butane blending support and oversight.
  • And other duties as assigned.



Position Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Related experience in butane blending and midstram operations required.
  • 5+ years of experience in field, pipeline or petroleum related operations is required.
  • Up to 75% travel

  • In order to succeed in this position it is necessary to have good interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) Proper interaction, using tact and discretion with suppliers, shippers and outside testing facilities is also required to make correct decisions concerning product quality in a timely manner.
  • Physical demands require someone capable of sitting at a desk for a minimum of 8 hours, visiting field locations where there is potential for being near construction activity and participating in operational tasks including climbing tanks.
  • They should be a person of integrity who is passionate and knowledgeable about butane blending, field operations, maintenance, quality control and compliance.
  • They would be the point man for communicating performance, leveraging best practices, and continual improvement. Relationships should be enhanced through openness.
  • Person should be an open-minded problem solver.



Essential Functions:



  • This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.
  • This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • This position requires compliance with all personnel policies.

  • Normal office but with significant Field involvement
