The Job

The VP of Procurement is responsible for leading procurement efforts to efficiently and effectively maximize the value the organization receives from suppliers, vendors and other outside services to achieve SCAN's vision and business objectives. The VP will work with business units and stakeholders across the Company to lead centralized direct and indirect sourcing and procurement efforts.

You Will

Evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts to drive cost efficient use of vendors/suppliers.

Collaborate with other departments and leadership to identify business needs and develop requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions.

Develop the Vendor Management Oversight process, with the goal of creating consistency and ability to support national growth.

Implement and enforce company policies that support the effective acquisition of equipment, supplies and services. Oversee all processes involved in acquiring the products, materials, goods and services needed for efficient business operations.

Drive strategic company initiatives including cost reduction objectives and possible supplier consolidation projects. Assess current material availability, and forecast future availability based on the market, delivery systems, and other variables.

Draft, explain, and implement instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing and contract management.

Evaluate and approve conditions for issuing and awarding bids.

Resolve grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.

Maintain and/or implement purchasing and recordkeeping systems. Act as the company's representative in negotiations with suppliers. Coordinate removal or disposal of surplus materials.

Hire and manage the Purchasing staff. Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Oversee the daily workflow and schedules of the department. Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required. Graduate or Advanced Degree preferred.

10-15 years of progressively responsible Purchasing experience

5+ years of management experience leading and developing staff

Supplier performance management experience

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven negotiation skills.

Strong knowledge of Supply Chain and Materials Management best practices.

Process improvement skills.

Expert knowledge of RFP and MRP methods and practices.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to train others effectively. Understanding of business and management principles.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
