SAF/AQR- Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Science, Technology and Engineering Serves as the Air Force S&T Executive, Air Force Acquisition Chief Engineer and Technical Authority, the Air Force Corrosion Control and Prevention Executive, Air Force Standardization Executive, and functional manager for the S&E career field. Develops and implements plans, policies, and procedures for Air Force S&T, laboratory management, technology transition (to include Joint Capability Technology Demonstrations (JCTD)), Technology Cooperation Program, technology transfer, development planning (DP), and experimentation. Establishes engineering policy, standards and specialty engineering guidance for Air Force systems, subsystems, and end-items. Leads the Systems Security Engineering (SSE) activities that include the identification and protection of critical program information (CPI) and functions, elimination or mitigation of cyber vulnerabilities, and program protection planning. Establishes policy and guidance for the development, implementation, and operation of the Air Force airworthiness assurance system. Develops the Department of Air Force S&T strategy in consultation with AF/ST and SAF/SQ; oversees USAF S&T program elements involved basic and applied research as well as assigned developmental program elements and ensures technology development supports warfighter needs. Advocates for S&T, DP, prototyping and experimentation, technology transition, technology transfer, digital engineering, and S&T intelligence; defends these areas in the corporate Air Force PPBE process; and serves as the primary interface with Congress, OSD, and other government agencies for these non-Special Access Program (SAP) investments.Physical Scientist (Data Science) - SeniorClearance: SecretSchedule - 5 days onsite at the Pentagon, with telework on an ad hoc/case by case basisThis position provides scientific acumen and experience with complex integrated cross-disciplinary technologies to short-term career-broadening personnel, as well as vital independent analysis for integration across the PEOs. The tasks for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Studying, analyzing, and providing recommendations on requirements, acquisition strategies, research and acquisition program documentation, program phase transition plans, supplemental information, and program execution.
  • Providing impartial assessments of approaching milestone decisions and of prime Contractor technical and operational issues on programs within the oversight of SAF/AQR.
  • Researching and providing technical analysis for the preparation of science & technology programmatic documentation and responses to Congressional, DoD, Air Force Secretariat, and/or Air Staff.
  • Researching and analyzing program trends, identifying issues, and recommending solutions.
  • Analyzing weapon systems architecture and integration and identifying issues.
  • Identifying operational deficiencies and other key issues, conducting research to develop alternatives, and providing recommendations and support for resolution.
  • Performing weapon system/technology/cost trade-off studies.
  • Reviewing and assessing technical, operational, and management concepts, documents, and specifications.
  • Assessing the capability of weapon system science and technology program alternatives to provide the required capability.
  • Making ties between technology gaps and S&T efforts.
  • Providing advice for use of S&T efforts to future force.
  • Communicating technical ideas for non-technical people to be able to understand.
  • Any other tasks closely associated with the performance of duties list above and as coordinated with the COR.

Qualifications:
  • A master's degree in any engineering specialty relevant to the position description duties.
  • 10 years of data science / data analysis experience.
