Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care ( UBHC), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. UBHC's 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education. UBHC, one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school. Specialty services include the New Jersey suicide prevention helpline and peer help lines for police, veterans, active military, teachers, mothers of special needs children and child protective service workers. In FY2016, UBHC treated 16,199 consumers, had 24,502 admissions, and touched the lives of 19,441 individual callers through peer support. In addition, UBHC is the primary mental health training resource for the New Jersey departments of Human Services, Children and Families, and Corrections, delivering 16,000 trainings each year.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior Training & Consultation Specialist for Behavioral Research and Training Institute - Children's System of Care Training and Technical Assistance the within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.

The primary purpose of the Senior Training & Consultation Specialist is to provide a curriculum development point person role and/or a field training/technical assistance point person role in the Children's System of Care - Training and Technical Assistance program in addition to providing advanced level training and consultation services and technical assistance and curriculum development to support the operation and the mission of the Children's System of Care - Training and Technical Assistance, and Rutgers University Behavioral HealthCare. This individual travels to training sites throughout the state to provide training, technical assistance and consultation as needed.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Provides advanced level training and/or consultation services.
  • Develops, delivers, and monitors training programs and activities, including the development of Professional Services agreements when needed.
  • Initiates a process of consultation, needs assessment and systems analysis to identify goals and objectives that facilitate change within system partner agency or educational settings.
  • Assesses the training and curriculum development needs of various constituents/clients.
  • Utilizes tools and instruments for evaluation.
  • Provides technical assistance in assigned project areas.
  • Acts as a point person for assigned project areas.
  • Builds effective relationships and networks with system partners/clients.
  • Markets programs and participates in grant writing as needed.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • PhD, PsyD or EdD in a mental health discipline plus one (1) year of experience in consultation or training or a Master's Degree with an additional two (2) years of related experience.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience training mental health professionals how to effectively implement services for children and families with complex behavioral and emotional needs is required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience with technical assistance and curriculum development is also required.
  • Experience working in an out-of-home treatment center for youth is also required.

Certifications/Licenses
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with children and families with complex behavioral and emotional needs.
  • Strong writing skills and computer skills (Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel).
