Location Profile: Headquartered in Irvine, CA, Shur-Lok manufactures fastening systems with superior locking devices for critical requirements including engine module assembly, structural assembly, rotor blade attachment, and aircraft engine shaft and spindle applications. Operations at the Irvine location include CNC Machining, CNC Waterjet Cutting, Laser Marking, Heat Treating, NDT, and EDM. Position Summary: The Tool and Die Maker is responsible for designing, building, and troubleshooting, new dies and tooling as well setting up and maintaining all types of dies used in the production of fasteners. Operates various machine tools and performs other highly skilled work, such a laying out, fitting and assembling parts. Should be able to construct tools where no design is available and work to exact and critical tolerances. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Tool and die makers are responsible for fashioning precision tools. The tools that they design will be used to form, shape or cut materials. Tool and die makers also produce dies, which are metal forms used for the shaping of metal while it is being forged. Work from specifications in the form of sketches, models, and blueprints:
