What You Will Do:

The Security Guard is responsible for ensuring campus safety and greeting all visitors, students, staff, and faculty. The Security Guard will protect campus property and maintain the safety and security of students, staff and visitors.



Essential Responsibilities

    Enforce University rules and regulations, upholding State and local laws, and protecting property
  • Provide critical security support during regular and extended hours
  • Ensure visitors and vendors are properly signed in prior to accessing the building
  • Responsible for greeting the public and fielding basic facilities questions, act as liaison to information desk personnel
  • Inspect campus building to maintain security
  • Monitor security cameras that are within the facility
  • Conduct general patrols of the entire property during various hours, if required, including numerous flights of stairs and frequent patrols of the exterior in any weather conditions


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1-3 years of prior satisfactory employment as a security officer or directly related experience
  • Professionalism: Consistently responds in a professional manner to incidents including property emergencies.
  • Detail Orientation: Maintain clear, accurate logs pertaining to people or property. This will include documentation of situations that you come across while you are on duty (student concerns or potential violations of university policies). Logs should be highly detailed and accurately document emergencies encountered during a shift.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to all parties encountered while on duty, including assisting with directions when needed and general business information.

The salary range of the grade for this position is $17.00 to $21.61 per hour (typical workweek is 40 hours). Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate. Offers are based on multiple factors permitted by law, including but not limited to: budgetary considerations, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, market considerations, tenure and standing with the university (applicable to current employees), and internal equity.
