Description

The Director of People and Culture will also use a hands-on approach to provide leadership of a comprehensive customer focused Human Resource practice. Responsible for superior service delivery of key HR programs by collaborating on
tactical projects in such as employee/labor relations, performance management recruitment and hiring, policy development, employee record keeping, and ongoing compliance with local, state, and federal law and regulations governing the employment relationship.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities and Other Characteristics:



  • Manage employees who perform the recruitment, benefit and employee relations functions of the agency by directly supporting management and employees.
  • Provides consultation to management and staff on a broad range of human resources issues.
  • Advises managers on labor relations issues and helps staff understand the terms of the collective bargaining unit agreement.
  • Ensure that all HR policies, procedures, and practices comply with applicable federal, state, local laws collective bargaining agreement and are consistent with company culture and values, providing training to staff to ensure compliance.
  • Create and execute successful recruiting strategies with Talent Acquisition Partner to identify talent internally and externally while managing the staffing life cycle from crafting job descriptions, posting open positions, screening candidates, and supporting managers with the interview process to extending offers and onboarding employees.
  • Manage the employee appreciation activities and committee.
  • Management and execution of special projects and other duties, as assigned.
  • Represent JCFS and its programs in a positive manner to both internal and external contacts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business or related field or equivalent work experience. Four years of experience managing others in multiple HR functions.
  • (6) years of hands-on experience in at least three of the following area - employee/labor relations, talent acquisition, benefit administration, staff development, HRIS and HR Compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong professional relationships with employees, managers and HR team members.
  • This position requires site visits to locations which may or may not be accessible by public transportation and needs a reliable method of travel to reach different sites in the northern Chicago metropolitan area.


Preferred Skills:



  • Managing a department budget.
  • Experience working in a union environment.
  • Experience with UKG software.
  • Experience working in a health services or non-profit environment industry.
